C. Jill Alexander

Jill is a partner at Cavanagh LLP. She obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1997 and graduated magna cum laude.

Since her call to the bar in 1999 Jill has practised exclusively in the area of civil litigation. Her insurance practice is varied and includes handling matters involving personal injury, property damage, product liability, municipal liability and professional liability. She also prosecutes subrogated claims and regularly provides coverage opinions.

In 2008 Jill was honoured to receive the Regional Senior Justice Award from the County of Carleton Law Association. Established in 2003, the RSJ award recognizes one lawyer annually with 10 years of experience or less who has made an outstanding contribution as a litigator or solicitor within the legal profession as well as outside of the profession by making an outstanding contribution to the community.

Jill has been invited to organize, moderate and speak at many continuing legal education events, including the County of Carleton Law Association’s annual Civil Litigation Conference.

First elected to the CCLA’s Board of Trustees in 2010, Jill has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2014. During her time with the Board, Jill has participated in several significant CCLA initiatives and has served on many CCLA committees. She is currently the President of the County of Carleton Law Association.

When she is not working Jill enjoys spending time with her husband and kids at her cottage in Norway Bay, Quebec. During the winter months, Jill and her husband spend most of their leisure time volunteering for the Calabogie Ski Racing Club. On occasion, they get to ski together!
