Student Program
An exceptional culture has been established at Cavanagh. The firm is a friendly, exciting and dynamic place to work. Our students tell us that they enjoy working for us because of the nature and quality of our work; our excellent reputation in the community and our informal culture.
From the outset, students and associates at Cavanagh are provided with challenging work and frequent opportunities to shape their career and experience. We offer students the opportunity to really make themselves at home in the practice of law, with hands-on experience – meeting with clients and attending proceedings. We have an open-door policy and as a student, you become a true member of our firm. We encourage students to take part in every area of our practice and to take responsibility for their files. We look for candidates who are self-motivated, resourceful, willing to learn and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility to our firm and our clients.
Each student is assigned a mentor at the beginning of his or her articling to help manage work load, ensure a well-rounded experience and answer the many questions, both professional and personal, that tend to arise.
For summer students, although the short time frame does not allow for an exposure to all aspects of our practice, we ensure that summer students get exposure to various types of litigation. Most importantly, our students gain exposure to a successful firm and the leading professionals who make it happen. We take our student programs seriously and get student directly involved with our files and clients because many of these students will be building our firm in the future.
